about

Between April and July 1977 a group of friends from the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston met several times, in groups of various sizes, to make live music for a tape recorder. We filled the Schmidts' living room with microphones, sat on and around the hearth, and sang. This recording is the result of that effort.

Special thanks to Ellen and Allan Schmidt for their unflagging hospitality and to Mickey Levine for acting as engineer and advisor.

This digital version was recorded from a fresh copy of the LP (the original tapes being long gone) so some surface noise or pops may lend it authenticity... I did do a little remastering.

I still have LP copies of the album if you're interested. --Paul Beck
